Use and Maintenance

  1. If your choice of grill is charcoal, empty the ashes from your last grilling session for a brand-new experience.

  2. Both grills need to be pre-heated before you start cooking. Gas grills are relatively easy to turn on for those who are new to grill and barbequing. The charcoal grill is ignited using a chimney starter.

Remember, do not use lighter fluid to ignite your charcoal. It might seem easy, but your cooked food will taste like chemicals.

Let your gas grill heat up for at least 10 minutes, and the charcoal grill should heat up for at least 20 minutes.

  1. Once the grill is preheated, use a brass wire brush to scrape off all the gunk and old good from the grate. Scraping is a must before every cooking season and you should not skip it.

  2. During grilling season, a quick brush before and after the griller will suffice for cleaning. After grilling your last meal for the season, leave some grease on the grate to avoid rusting and damage in the winter.

  3. Oil the grate and wipe the bars with an oiled paper towel and long tongs after cleaning the grate. Oil with high smoking temperatures, like canola oil, is needed for this process.

  4. Now, the grill is hot, and the grate is cleaned, start cooking. Your food won’t stick much, and you can get perfect char grill lines.

Tips and Tricks

  • Prevent meat juices to drip, while flipping and turning. Flip meat and vegetables using tongs and a spatula instead of a fork.

  • Limit flipping your food. Try and flip only once while grilling is in progress.

  • Don’t press down on burgers or chicken with a spatula while grilling. It might squeeze out the juice of the meat.

  • Use Bourbon Barrel BBQ Chips or other flavored woods for a terrific smoky flavor.

  • Infuse grilled foods with herbs for a delicate flavor. Toss the herbs along with the charcoal while grilling. If you’re using a gas grill, soak herbs in water and place them on the grate before putting your food on top of them.

  • Marinate meat and vegetables for grilling for an exquisite taste.
